The Harinder Veriah Trust has been established to honour Harinder's life and disseminate the values she held so dear. The trust exists in both Malaysia and the UK. The launch dinner for the Malaysian Trust was held at the Mandarin Hotel in Kuala Lumpur in March 2002 in the presence of the Malaysian Minister of Justice, Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim. A reception for the British Trust was hosted by Cherie Booth QC at 10, Downing Street in April 2004. The Trust has two main purposes:
  • To enable a young Malaysian lawyer from a non-privileged background to work for two years at the London office of Lovells, the international law firm, where Harinder was a lawyer. The first recipient of the award, Mr Murali Ramakrishnan, commenced his appointment in January 2004.
  • To give financial support to children in Petaling Jaya, from the age of 12 upwards, who are from under-privileged backgrounds, in order to help with their education
